Joseph Art
Born in Paris on October 22, 1961, Joseph now resides and creates in the picturesque south of France. Since 1985, he has been a prominent figure in the art world, drawing inspiration from the symbols of mass popular culture. He represents a new generation of artists driven by a desire for dialogue, contrasting with the radicalism of the 70s. Employing various mediums, Joseph reinterprets old papers as reflections of contemporary culture.
His educational journey led him through architecture and graphic arts studies before refining his skills in painting and drawing at the Ecole des Beaux Arts. Fascinated by the works of New Realists like Hains and Villeglé, Joseph’s encounter with Antoni Tapiès proved transformative. Contemplating the essential role of pigments and pastes in artistic expression, he delves into the realm where perception begins to unfold.
